Three-generations with baptismal name František originate from Prague’s major hardware manufacturer R., who continually developed the company – a today well-known group ČKD-TATRA, which deals with the construction of trams, most common in Central Europe. František R. (II) was also active in the political arena. In 1861 he was elected mayor of Smíchov, in 1862 he received the Order of the Iron Crown, and was then elevated to baronial status. Since 1864 he was the delegate of the Czech Provincial Assembly and in 1870 set up a pension fund for his employees.
