Joseph Maximilian →P’s younger brother obtainined an engineering degree in 1835 at the "Institutum Geometricum" in Budim. From 1837 to 1857 he himself taught at the Institute. The following year he was appointed professor of advanced mathematics at the University of Pest, and he also became a permanent member of the Academy of Sciences. P. is the author of numerous scientific papers and textbooks on higher mathematics, geometry, dynamics, hydraulics and hydrotechnics, mechanics and astronomy, as well as various popular science works.
