Electrical Engineer
Until 1906 V. studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Budapest and after the completion of the study travelled through Europe and America for many years to expand his horizons. In the USA he completed his studies with a degree of Electrical Engineer as the University of Budapest did not yet have such a programme at that time. On his return he began to work in a → Ganz factory in Budapest. He was involved in the electrification of the Italian railways for the next two years. During World War I he was concerned with plans for electric locomotives. He continued this work in the National railways after the war. As the head of the programme he developed a concept for the electrification of the Budapest-Vienna railway line electrification and made a plan for the first large power plant in Hungary. He became a professor in the Department of electrical installations at the Technical University of Budapest in 1929. He mainly focused on high voltage technique until his retirement.
