Analytical chemist
E. studied physics and chemistry at the Faculty of Arts in Budapest. His first job was in a research laboratory in Budapest, where he became acquainted with almost all methods of chemical analysis. At the same time he lectured at various academic institutes as a private docent. In 1949 he became professor at the Institute of General Chemistry (later the Institute for General and Analytical Chemistry) at the Technical University. Here he invented various new methods for different analysis, including classical and instrumental procedures. He wrote more than 500 publications. His book »Gravimetric methods« (in three volumes) in 1960 was published in Hungarian, in 1964 in German and in 1966 in English language. In 1951 he became a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
