Railway Engineer
Z. studied at the Technical University in Budapest and graduated as a civil engineer in 1891. He began his career as a railway engineer in the Hungarian State Railways. In 1910 he retired as deputy director of this company. In 1914 Technical University invited him to take the post of Professor of Transport and construction of railways. Between 1921 and 1923 he was also the rector of this university. As a public servant and scientist Z. took a lot of credit for the development of railway industry in Hungary. As a university professor he published several technical books, among them were also works on the history of railways. He was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 1921 on.
