Mining engineer
After E. completed his secondary school in Banská Štiavnica in 1880, he enrolled at the Academy of Mining and Forestry. After he finished his studies he was employed in the iron joint-stock company Salgo-Tarjaner-Eisenwerks-AG. Having worked for several years in the central office of the company in Ózdo, he was transferred to iron ore mine in Železník, where he hold the office of foreman until 1905. As soon as he took up a new post, E. began to reorganize the mine; he built a new export shaft and rearranged the machine for surface and underground mining. Despite partial disability due to illness (1901) he again worked in the Mining directorate in Ózdo since 1905, where he worked as Secretary for six years. As an active member of Borsod-Gömöri provincial branch of a Hungarian Mining and Metallurgy company, E. also publicly spoke in favour of mining. He was one of the first initiator of establishment of a mining museum in Rožňava.
