Physicist
From 1778 on T. studied philosophy at the University in Buda and later mathematics and physics at the Institute of surveying in Pest and finished it by the end of 1787 as a land surveying engineer. From 1791 to 1798 he lectured as a professor of physics and agronomy at the Royal Academy in Veliki Varadin (today Oredea in Romania) and then until 1801 as a professor of physics at the Royal Academy in Bratislava, while also lecturing physics and mechanics at the University of Pest, where he in 1823/24 held the post of rector. T. is the author of numerous discussions and textbooks for physics including higher education textbook in three volumes and the first comprehensive monograph on galvanism in Hungary. As a diligent organizer of scientific developments he, together with J. Winterl and other Hungarian scholars initiated the establishment of the Hungarian Association of Physicians and Natural Scientists. Mineralogical association of Jena appointed him an honorary member.
